Greatest Of All Time

Story idea:
Title: Greatest Of All Time.

In the distant future, the world is forced to rethink how the Olympic Games are run when a gymnast momentarily flies during their routine, ushering in the era of super powered athletes. After an ensuing decades-long war, a catastrophe at the Olympic Games reveals long held secrets about the dawn of Super Humans.

The super human strength of Simone Biles and the real life Clark Kent found in Stephen Nedoroscik (“The Pummel Horse Guy”) makes this story idea very topical, but all it started during the 2020 Summer Olympics when I realized that the dawn of super humans would probably emerge as athletes and not crime fighters.

Comic book super heroes find a lot of inspiration from athletes. Bill Finger had Bruce Wayne train as an athlete to become the Batman (as seen in Detective Comics #33, November 1939).

In the original Watchmen comic, Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons had Ozymandias literally perform a gymnastic routine as entertainment.

Olympic records keep getting broken. Simone Biles seems to defy gravity with the heights she can reach. And records will probably continue to be broken. Will it ever stop? Or will one day, a gymnast actually defy gravity. And if they do, will they start by leaping tall buildings in a single bound or simply breaking the boundaries of physics for a moment. How would the world react? Or overreact?

This is a story idea in need of a plot. I have the bones of the idea, the building of the world has begun, but I have yet to fill the world with characters, villains, and story arcs.

But it wasn’t until Batman’s seventh appearance in Detective Comics that Bill Finger decided to give the Dark Knight his origins. Perhaps, the origins of my story idea are waiting out there, ready to emerge and defy gravity.

What worlds have you created and what are they waiting for?

Among other qualities, you are a futuristic thinker and that is a huge gift. Thank you for this opportunity to act on inspiratons, (and there are many, which may be the problem I face in making my internet presence more functional!) I haven’t been on WORDPRESS for a long time after I failed to use it to my advantage. I look forward to navigating it once again with renewed enthusiasm inspired by your website that I admire so much. it just looks great and you’ve built it well with a lot on it already. I have stuff to curate and work on; a Memoires project, a parallel universe novel, unfinished plays to work on this winter, an historical fiction play due in November and my delight is monthly Poetry Club which gives prompts we can use/ or not. . .I bring food! One of our readers is at Burning Man right now with an interactive giant chicken!
You have proposed some wonderful ideas to write about. You didn’t have To explain cryptids to me at all. I know exactly what that is and iave reasons why it’s one of my favorite subjects! So thank you for this wonderful website that absolutely celebrates human. . .AND OTHER. . . .lol creativity.
    see you on Facebook
